Then in 1954 to a Jr. High School, and finily in 1956 to the High School it is today.

Stranahan High school, is located in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida was officially opened in 1953: as an elementary school. The school is a part of the Broward County Public Schools district.
The school was built on land donated by Ivy Cromartie Stranahan, and was named after her late husband Frank Stranahan. The school progressively added the junior high school grades a year at a time due to rapid population growth in the area. The school opened as a high school in 1957. The first principal of Stranahan was Kenneth Dale Haun. Kenneth Haun had been a Junior High Assistant Principal when he was picked to help design and then serve as principal of Stranahan. As the school added grades each year and then gradually dropped the middle school grades, Kenneth Haun continued as head of the the school. He served as principal for nearly thirty years. The school's unique design of separate buildings spread out more like a college campus was a result of limited funds to build the school. Buildings were gradually added in phases to accommodate growth of the student population. The first hall building was converted to a 2 story building in the 70s. During renovations of first hall in the early 90s, there was a large fire that consumed most of the building. The building was renovated and it now contains the administration on the first floor and the second floor has English and social studies classrooms. The second hall has computer labs and foreign language classrooms. Third hall has art classrooms and fourth hall has math. The magnet classrooms are mostly in the new science and medical magnet buildings. Previously some of the magnet classrooms were located in second and third hall.5

The enterprise was a result of the efforts of Senator George W. Norris of Nebraska. TVA was envisioned not only as a provider, but also as a regional economic development agency that would use federal experts and electricity to rapidly modernize the region's economy and society.
TVA's service area covers most of Tennessee, parts of Alabama, Mississippi, and Kentucky, and small slices of Georgia, North Carolina, and Virginia. It was the first large regional planning agency of the federal government and remains the largest. About Bonaventure Cemetery

It means "good fortune" in French, and it was the good fortune of John Mulryne and Josiah Tattnall that created this cemetery. Both were large landholders in Georgia, but they much more in common than owning the land that became the cemetery. Mulryne, who built the third Tybee Lighthouse in 1773, was Tattnell's father-in-law and owner of Bonaventure, his plantation home. It was a family cemetery on the plantation that formed the nucleus of the present-day Bonaventure Cemetery.

During the American Revolution both Mulryne and Tattnell declared themselves as Loyalists (loyal to the king of England). A short time later Royal Governor James Wright spent the night at Mulryne's home while on the way to meet the British fleet at Tybee Roads. He was afraid to stay at his own estate not far from Bonaventure because the Patriots might find him.

In 1777 the state "nationalized" all Torie holdings in Georgia, giving them to Patriots like John Habersham, who received Mulryne's Bonaventure. During the Siege of Savannah the estate was used by the French Admiral Valerie D'estaing as a hospital. Josiah Tattnall Jr., son of Josiah Tattnall returned home and purchased the land from Habersham.

Tattnall continued to use the family burial ground established by Mulryne, And was buried next to his wife when he died at the age of 38. When his son Commander Josiah Tattnall III sold the property in 1848 roughly 70 acres were set aside as a cemetery.

When Naturalist John Muir wrote about Bonaventure Cemetery in his 1867 book A Thousand Mile Walk to the Gulf, it was mostly the family cemetery today known as "Old Bonaventure."

Beginning n 1868 plots in privately-held Evergreen Cemetery were sold. In 1907 the city purchased the cemetery and renamed it Bonaventure, in honor of the former owner's home.

In 1994 interest in the cemetery peaked with the publication of Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, a quirky murder mystery partly set in the historic cemetery. The 1997 Clint Eastwood film of the same title featured scenes filmed in the "New Bonaventure Cemetery."
